During my time at University, I was given the task to write a dissertation. I chose a topic that I not only had a personal interest in, but something that would challenge me. The Uncanny Valley refers to a physical and/or psychological reaction of repulsion or unease to seeing something that appears to be human but is not. I explore these ideas through a text that discusses the uncanny found in AI, robotics, and sculpture; as well as a video essay in which I create a VR POV experience using 3D scans of myself in an attempt to evoke the uncanny valley reaction in others.
